Daily devotional 4/18DAILY DEVOTIONALSunday, April 18The Power of the King’s WordsLuke 4:31-37Casting out a devil is certainly an amazing feat and proves the one doing the casting out has great power. However, if the one doing the casting out happens to be God in the flesh it is, as they say, small potatoes. For the One who spoke the universe into existence, and holds all things together by His hand, casting out a demon is no difficult task at all. Paul taught the Colossians, referring to Jesus, that “for by him were all things created” (Colossians 1:16). Paul further taught them that, “by him all things consist” (verse 17). Everything we see around us was created by the Lord Jesus Christ, and only as long as He keeps His hand on them do they remain. God the Father, God the Holy Spirit and God the Son are in direct control of every event in the universe, by either causing or allowing them to happen? How can we get our heads around that? The answer is that we really cannot. God in all His glory and power is not fathomable by a finite human mind. We really ought to be okay with that. Any god that can be understood is not much of a god. In fact, that god would be just like us. That god could never save.Even though we can never understand God’s power completely, He has made some things easy to understand. We can never say we were denied the chance to be with God forever because He made the way too hard. God and His Word are so complex we can study for a lifetime and not fully understand; yet, the message of the gospel is so simple a six-year-old can understand it.JUST A THOUGHT: The Lord Jesus Christ has all power given unto Him. He has the power to forgive, and thepower to judge as well. Will you be forgiven or judged? Wally Fry#dailydevotional #encouragement #biblereading ... See MoreSee Less
