Daily devotional 7/15DAILY DEVOTIONALThursday, July 15A Parable About RejectionMatthew 21:28-46Several years ago, there was a famous movie quote that went as follows, “Show me the money!” We could paraphrase it by saying, “Look, quit talking and show me the substance of what you are saying by your actions!” That is exactly what we see in our devotional verse. One son said words of rejection; the other son said words of acceptance. The first son, despite his words, later acted. The second son, despite his words, did nothing. Jesus teaches us clearly that it was the first son who did his Father’s will. Many reject the words of Jesus Christ even today. Many say, “I will not.” Sadly, many will say that their entire lives, then enter eternity forever separated from the Father in hell. Happily, on the other hand, many will repent of their resistance and enter the kingdom of God eternally. God is patient and long-suffering, and His offer of restoration is open until our last breath. What is even sadder is that many are like the Pharisees who Jesus condemned in this passage. These are those speaking good words, (living right), and believing their works are saving them. Their words and actions are meaningless; unless they stop only saying they will go and go by faith. Have we gone in faith? Or are we simply spouting empty words?JUST A THOUGHT: Our words and actions mean nothing; salvation is one hundred percent the work of God.Wally Fry#dailydevotional #encouragement #dailyreading ...
